STC, Mobily, Zain to require ID Number to reload pre-paid SIM Cards

Communications and Information Technology Commision (CITC) decision number 325 on “Regulating the sale and activation of Pre-Paid SIM cards,” the mobile communications services providers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia announce that association of charging, balance transfer, or recharging Pre-Paid SIM Cards to Subscriber ID Number will take effect on July 31, 2012. This rule applies to all mobile communications service providers (STC, Mobily, ZAIN) and all ID types should be valid (Saudi-ID, Iqama, Passport).

No Pre-Paid SIM cards will be recharged unless the subscriber enters his/her ID number followed by the recharge number. More importantly, the ID number entered must correspond to the ID number provided by the subscriber at the time of SIM purchase.

Those who have recently renewed ther Iqamas are now required to visit the nearest branch of their mobile service providers to have their Iqama numbers update lest the ID numbers submitted at the time of SIM Card purchase won’t match their current ones.
